Solvent-free extraction (SFME)
The analytical procedure for essential oils and aromas from plants or spices involves two steps: extraction by steam distillation or hydrodistillation and analysis by GC or GC-MS. While the analysis step takes only a few minutes, extraction typically takes several hours. Even today, the standard extraction procedure based on the Clevenger method from 1928 is still in use.
To address the limitations of this nearly 90-year-old technology, Milestone has developed the new ETHOS X for solvent-free extraction of natural products.
It is available in two interchangeable configurations, for fragrances and for flavors, with the ETHOS X benefiting from the unique microwave-selective heating mechanism.
